Spring break, day 2, Helen GA

When we all got up and rolling in Clemson, it was time to take off for our ultimate spring break destination!  Helen, GA.  Never heard of it?  It's a sleepy little Alpine/Southern town tucked up in the Appalachian Mountains.  The noteworth Chatahoochee river runs right through it. The hotel we booked was right on the banks of the river and offered steps right down to the water.  So of course, the first thing we did was jump on the rocks in the middle of the river.
Evie is a vetern rock hopper and Henry is pretty good too.

Pretty soon, everyone was out there risking their necks and potentally cracking a skull.

Jo Jo wanted to go too, but Aunt Becky held her back, we had something else in mind for that kid

Meanwhile, the kids just kept jumping from Rock to rock

We knew it would be a great day because of the vintage Ford Tempo Aunt Becky parked by.  And also, what is she holding?  Her original Cabbage patch kid from 1984!

We were headed just down the road to Cleveland, GA to Babyland General--the birthplace of the Cabbage Patch Kid

Interesting cement lawn ornaments.

That is one excited lady

She cannot contain her excitment for sitting in the  giant cabbage.  At this point, JoJo was less than impressed.

Inside, there were cabbage patch babies everywhere.  And these were the fancy ones

With real yarn hair and soft scupted faces.  Some kids are still into these dolls.  Most of the kids were dragged there by their moms or grandmas though.

And then we spotted some babies just sprouting.

Aunt Becky helped to deliver this kid.

We aren't sure what Jo thought about all these dolls her size.

We were even lucky enough to be present as Mother Cabbage delivered another baby by C-section.  That's cabbage section.

And since JoJo was a good sport, Aunt Becky bought her a doll baby

JoJo is the proud mother of Genevieve Catalina

Here we are with our Cabbage Patch babies on the porch of Babyland General.  it was a fun filled 30 minutes.  You didn't need to stay much longer because it was just a giant store.

Back in Helen, the kids and dads played a big game of mini golf

They had a great time complete with pirate hats and tatoos!  Evie made one or two holes in one.

We celebrated our day at a German restuarant with a giant pretzel.  A great day was topped off by Jim finding a bug in his spatzel and we all got free beer for the night.  Jackpot. What a great way to start vacation.
